As scarce as hen's teeth, semi-auto pellet guns are the stuff of legends!
Perhaps the best known and most revered of all was Crosman's classic .22 caliber model 600 pistol. Produced for just 11 years (1960-1970), the 600 lived during the era when CO2 powerlets were problematic, as were the seals in the guns, themselves. That explains why so many 600s still survive in pristine condition, having been tossed into drawers and forgotten for three decades.
Failsafe powerlets and seals have vaulted CO2 guns back into the limelight, but until now no one made an affordable semi-auto rifle or pistol. The used gun market is red-hot with shooters modifying and repairing the few vintage semi-autos that exist, but no modern airgun has addressed this niche until now.
Enter The Nightstalker!
In November 2005, the Crosman Corporation brought their new .177 cal. Nightstalker to market. This one is a 12-shot carbine instead of a pistol. But it gets even better.
The deluxe Nightstalker kit comes with a bipod, tactical flashlight, red dot sight and all the hardware needed to attach everything to the rifle. Crosman has dressed this one appropriately!
A few years ago, Crosman took a cue from hard-core airgunners who were adding large bulk CO2 tanks to popular guns such as the 1077 rifle. In response to the demand, Crosman created its own bulk tank--the new disposable 88-gram AirSource cartridge. The standard Crosman powerlet holds 12 grams of liquid carbon dioxide from which guns extract 35 to 60 shots as it evaporates to a high-pressure gas.
So, 88 grams of the stuff is going to give hundreds of shots! Couple that with a 12-shot semi-auto that can change clips rapidly, and you're set for an afternoon of lead launching like you haven't seen since your grandfather paid for the ammo! No wonder the airgunning world is paying attention!
The new gun uses the AirSource cartridge exclusively, so no going back to powerlets. After you sample the performance, you won't want to! Let's take a look at the new rifle.
Physical Specs
The Nightstalker is compact, at a bare-bones weight of just 3 1/4 lbs. and a length of 30 1/2 inches. The deluxe kit gun shown here includes the optional bipod, red dot sight and tactical flashlight, boosting the total, with a full AirSource cartridge, to a beefy 6-1/2 lbs.
