Charles Rangel is a long-serving and, some will say, ethically challenged New York congressman whose track record on guns would hardly satisfy any SGN readers. He now has been honored with a special-edition AK short-barreled rifle by Mississippi Auto Arms in Oxford, Miss.
MAA owner Nathan Yow said the rifle is an homage to Congressman Rangel and former Congressman William Jefferson. As you know, Congressman Rangel has done his best over the years to restrict the right of law abiding citizens to own firearms. He has also over the years had some very hostile words for the State of Mississippi that we have still not forgotten.
“As such we’ve wanted to honor Congressman Charlie Rangel’s legacy for some time, both with regard to his role in the adoption of the Hughes Amendment in 1986 as well as his 2006 statement ‘Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?’ What better way to recognize this paragon of virtue than to recognize him with a green highly restricted semi-automatic AK-47 short barrel rifle.”
The “Rangel Edition” carries a list price of $1,199, though its main purpose is to show off a green color scheme MAA offers.
This is a great little publicity idea, and is a notion that can and should be expanded to some of our other favorite political gun haters. How about these?
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Dillon Aero Mini-Gun with Lauer DuraCoat in gold. He’s one of the few who can afford to shoot it.
Sen. Charles Schumer
Barrett Light 50 with dollar sign green camo. What could be better for the pushy “Senator from Wall Street” than a big pushy rifle?
Sen. Dianne Feinstein
Ruger LCR in urban camo. We already knew she likes .38 Spl. revolvers, since she had a couple while trying to disarm San Francisco.
How about some other ideas for special edition guns for gun-phobic pols?
