The Guns & Ammo Network

Chinese Pot Calls U.S. Kettle Black

If we didn’t owe them so much money, it would be easier to laugh at the recent report by the The State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China titled “The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2011.”

The report tosses everything but the kitchen sink at U.S. society, from bullying in the high schools to drone attacks in Pakistan, describing a grim, authoritarian place where the people are caught between heavily armed criminals and a repressive police state.

But the very first critique applied is against the right to keep and bear arms:

“The United States prioritizes the right to keep and bear arms over the protection of citizens’ lives and personal security and exercises lax firearm possession control, causing rampant gun ownership. The US people hold between 35 percent and 50 percent of the world’ s civilian-owned guns, with every 100 people having 90 guns (Online edition of the Foreign Policy, Jan 9, 2011). According to a Gallup poll in October 2011, 47 percent of American adults reported that they had a gun.”

Apparently, the Chinese have noticed protests unseen by the rest of us against this situation:

“High incidence of gun-related crimes has long ignited complaints of the US people and they stage multiple protests every year, demanding the government strictly control the private possession of arms. The US government, however, fails to pay due attention to this issue.”

Most SGN readers would probably say the U.S. gummint pays way too much attention to this issue, but then we aren’t Chinese Communists.

It’s probably not even worth pointing out the hypocrisy of a regime that has murdered and starved its people by the job lot griping about the U.S. human rights record, but the purpose of the exercise is stated clearly at the end of the report:

“The US’ own tarnished human rights record has made it in no condition, on a moral, political or legal basis, to act as the world’s “human rights justice,” to place itself above other countries and release the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices year after year to accuse and blame other countries. We hereby advise the US government once again to look squarely at its own grave human rights problems, to stop the unpopular practices of taking human rights as a political instrument for interference in other countries’ internal affairs, smearing other nations’ images and seeking its own strategic interests, and to cease using double standards on human rights and pursuing hegemony under the pretext of human rights.”

Maybe the current masters of Beijing should refer back to the Little Red Book, in which Chairman Mao Tse-Tung pointed out that “all power grows from the barrel of a gun.” For that very reason, we running dogs and imperialist lackeys plan to keep a firm grip on ours.

  • Heretic

In China, on can buy jars of human fetuses. They eat them in soup. Don't believe me, use your google-fu.

  • LMP65

This doesn't justify it, but almost every major power has slaughtered and starved innocent people. The American government is guilty of it. The US government is famous for slaughtering and starving millions of native American Indians. Something you're ignorant of Mr.Roberts, and shows your hypocrisy. While China, like American, is not perfect, is slowly rising and improving. The US is not improving at all, and isn't learning from its mistakes, but repeating them.

    • SeanC

Who's "Mr. Roberts"? Your English is very good, but your cultural bias of identifying the author speaks volumes. America has a very public improvement process, called 'REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY', though ugly at times, does exist, and can be meandering. I understand that's a foreign concept for you, since I'm sure that you only see the sensationalized reporting done by our FREE PRESS that often only shows the warts. Welcome to the open internet, you may even discover some not so wonderful facts about the wonderful country of China. Please, do not become disheartened. I do believe China is progressing, as is the United States of America, just in different ways, as we have FREELY chosen.

      • Brian

Socrates said to understand a thing, you must first name it. The name for what’s happening to our political system is corruption: a deep, systemic corruption.
Americans are conditioned to see our present form of government as a representative democracy. We're almost incapable of understanding that:
        We live in a plutocracy.
The United States Constitution was deliberately constructed so that the nation is ruled by the wealthy.

      • LMP65

I'm not Chinese you idiot. There's lots of "not so wonderful facts" about the USA also.

    • 2WarAbnVet

This whining about the poor poor Indians got tiresome a long time ago. It doesn't take a genius to understand that when a dynamic culture encountered a stone age culture conflict would be inevitable, and that the primitive culture would be on the losing end.

      • The Prof

Not always true….USSR vs Afghanistan. Afghans 1, USSR 0

        • 2WarAbnVet

Well, the Afghans did acquire US supplied stingers, the best the Indians could hope for was French trade muskets.

      • LMP65

Just because a culture is perceived as "primitive" gives somebody a right to wipe them out? You sick son of a bitch. Inevitable or not, that doesn't make it right.

        • 2WarAbnVet

Your pathetic name calling discredits any other ignorant comment you care to make.

    • guest

Exagerating a wee bit aren't we LMP. Slaughtering and starving millions of native Americans? Will you please give me your source for these figures, or are they the figment of an overactive mind? I think perhaps you are some hireling of the Chinese government who long ago became confused by the continuous stream of propaganda coming from China and can no longer tell the difference between truth and fiction. A small hint, there were never millions of native Americans to slaughter or starve.

      • The Prof

As a history prof, among other things, I suggest you check your facts….there were many millions of native Americans living in North America when the Europeans began arriving. Try Google next time before making a fool of yourself. You might also enter key words: Seminoles, Cherokees, Trail of Tears, smallpox and see what you come up with (just for starters)

        • ARsrule

Who counted these millions of NA's? Don't think because your'e "the Prof" your smarter than everyone here. Quoting Google, LMAO.

      • Pete

I have read lately that, according to the best investigative sources, when Columbus got here, there were about one million natives on the whole continent. Some of the good old boys, like the mountain men, could ride for weeks and never see another person. America was a very vast, empty land. When Lewis and Clark went up the Missouri River, they often saw no-one for weeks on end. Where were the so-called millions that lived out there?
Even when Custer was wiped out, the Indians had about 3 or 4 thousand men, which took them a long time to round up, from many, many miles in all directions.
Most native villages in this country were a few hundred, at most, and there was a long way between them.

      • http://www.facebook.com/wgilmore Wayne Gilmore

Your very wrong on that, the Cherokee Nation alone numbered in the millions, even today they are 4 million souls, this doesnt count Apache, Huron Delaware, Powhatan or many others. They were slaughtered by the thousand to the child. This is not disputed history by our government. As for China, at leased we didn't kill tens of millions like Mao. What was done early in our history was first done by the French and then by the British and we just followed through, The Spanish were 100 times worse with a true millions slain not just infected, and the Spanish get to keep the plunder even from lost ships of thier conquests and murders to this day.

    • jbd

China is a cleptocracy, they will turn inward again and begin to consume themselves. After they invaded
tibet they've balls pointing the finger. The US continuously improves, look at the rights and reservations we have today. Then Indians, really what a moron you are. Every person is better off in the US than when this nation was founded, the problem we have today is govt. sponsored transfer of wealth from the middle to the upper class. China will fold long before we do, as we sit on our remaining natural resources and allow the world to deplete theirs for our benefit.

    • ARsrule

They sell tickets to China at every airport. Go and buy one and move there as soon as possible if you hate the USA so much. If you welfare check won't cover the cost I wouuld be willing to bet that the readers of SN would pitch in to help you out. Then you can see first hand just how good that the Chinese are with their Civil Rights. BTW their might have been thousands of NA's "slaughtered and starved" millions your not serious are you? You are stupid if you are serious.

    • The Impaler

China is improving? Where are the students who revolted in Tiananmen Square? Where if the man who stood in front of the tanks? What happened to the monks of Tibet who peacefully protested China's invasion? What happened to the families who refused to move when the Olympic park was going to be built on their land? They're all dead that's what happened. This all happen in the last two decades. There are still Native Americans all around the US. Also, it's not like we tried to hide what happened. The article is written for the Chinese people, who have a censored Internet and media system. The rest of the world reads this article and laughs, because they get news from other source besides their government sponsored news media. The rest of us in the free world can look up events and news at our own leisure. The Chinese can only rely on its own government for news. Yup, China is improving.

  • LMP65

Lol, I got a lot of thumbs down, but nobody has refuted what I said. I guess the truth hurts, huh?

    • Buggy

I'll call you out on that.

"While China, like American, is not perfect, is slowly rising and improving."

Improving how? The government is crushingly oppressive and has not improved in that aspect. Frankly, you would not even be able to criticize the state openly without reprisal were you in China.

The "end all, be all" question is this. Would you live in China or the US?

      • chub

The Phrase "if you dont like u you can leave". No longer applies, never really did. Look at face book cofounder who relinquished his US citizenship , and in return diverted tax "theft" of his income. Now our almighty congress wants to go after him for taxes they haven't even levied aginst him. We are not free roveing entity's in the eyes of the state. We are cash cows awiting slaughter.

      • LMP65

China has the second best GDP. How is that not improvement? And when about their recent space mission?

        • http://www.facebook.com/michael.crosby.98499 Michael Crosby

I’m not sure how the Chinese GDP or space programs relate to their human rights record. Maybe someone can explain that bit to me. China needs improvement in their respect for individual human rights beyond what could fit in a magazine article. It would take something the size of a book like War and Peace or the Bible to list the human rights violations of China. The Chinese claim of US human rights violations is pure propaganda used to deflect criticism of their ongoing human rights violations.

  • chub

I think the title says it all. Pot calling the kettle black. Both countrys are despotic. One is stirring the propaganda pot while the other blends it. The US is controlled by off shore banking cartel. I would love to be wrong.

    • Randall

hit the wrong button. Off shore banks? Good possibility. Greed run ram-pit, big business with a hand over the working people, power over government, I'd say yeah! But with that being said, when will we start taking control of our country back? How to even start? We need commoners in the positions that have been bred for the places of government far too long. You got it right though, stirring or blending or mixing. The words are the exact same when it comes down to the end result. Just different languages. I meant to give you a thumbs up!

  • 2WarAbnVet

Whatever we do, we need to keep this report out of Obama's hands. He'l use it to further justify his destruction of America.

  • Buck

Hey Gook Chi – Com ….. IF ya'll think we are so bad —–WHY DO YOU STILL -TRY- TO COME OVER HERE ??????????? TELL ME , I WANT TO HEAR YOU , GOOKER ……

    • Uncle Percy

How many teeth do you have left? Got that new tattoo paid off yet? Wow you really dazzled everyone with that comment.

  • Randall

I do believe and hope that people like me are becoming more ever aware of how our government is out of control and keep putting more and more control over the people. The people should not fear the government, but seems it more like that every day. Lay off the American gun owners and lets start doing something other than empowering the conscious criminals of violent crimes of the innocent! It seems as though our great Fore Fathers started kicking ass for a lot less than the B-S laws that over govern us now, all "for our own protection" Get real and look what has become of our country. Is anyone familiar with the original Constitution and Bill of Rights? before it was allowed to let go to shit, just like the people's worth? I suggest that everyone help educate and help correct what has been bastardized. We need to be a people of one!

    • White Slave

Sorry Randall. I see too many sheep sleeping. The sheep will sleep to the slaughter. I can equate the massacre of Freedom to WWII, watching the Jews being exported and murdered. I have no hope for the common man of America anymore. This war of words will kill us all. Until a few are ready for open secession and war I bet I see camps in my life time.

  • steve

Communist China has the worlds worst record of human rights in the world.Under mao tse tung the same Communist govt in China mass murdered at least 50million people.Stalin(U.S.S.R.)comes in 2ndplace with about 50 million.Hitler a distant third with around 6million.why does the lame-stream media in America continuosly harp on hitler but not the other two?Because Mao &Stalin were Communists just like those that run mainstream media.Communist China runs "re-education camps ",slave labor.keep your powder dry American!when its time,GIVE EM HELL!

  • David

The Declaration of Independence speaks volumes for our current situation. Our government has strayed so far from constitution law that we could just as easily be called communist. Our government now practices all manner of human rights violations. Rendition Guantanamo Bay. No knock entries. Indefinite jailing without charges. You name it we as a country are guilty as charged.

    • Randall

David, I think we're on a similar page. The only reason that we are not completely finished as what our founders had in mind, is simply everything to do with our 2nd amendment right. But if the people that are in power keep on the basic path, we as Americans will be disarmed. So then what? Will crime stop? NO, will we as a group or even individually be safer? HELL NO. Anyone of the anti-gun people that have even a half a brain would check other places that went on the same completely incorrect perspective and find out that crime sky-rockets and safety is a non realistic way of life. I say to "F" with China and everyone else, until they come to our land. Who cares about what shit they have going on. Don't we have to fix our home before we can worry about others?

  • Heretic

Besides, we can't trust the Chinese. Any country with over a billion people that still claims ping pong is it's favorite sport will lie about other things too.

    • Randall

Hey, I don't even trust my local, county, state or even federal Govt. Hasn't our govt. been telling us a load of shit for the last 20+ years too? Koren War, Vietnam, the "War against Drugs", hey how about the latest, "The Fast and Furious with the gun scandal to to the Mexican drug cartel leaders to help in aide in taking away more of our 2nd amendment rights? Thank you one more time "ATF". "F" the Chinese and everyone else at this point. Don't we need to fix our selves first.

  • David

We all seem to agree there is a problem with current government doing business as usual. I might add at our expense. We currently can only vote but the real power starts at the local party headquarters. Get involved at that level and you can make a difference.

  • Randy Jackson

I have observed several negative comments about our country, albeit in the minority, from our own citizens, citizens that evidently read the same literature that I do. I am appalled. How could anyone that is fortunate enough to live in the America , entertain that China is as good and is improving? Bull-fucking- shit. I'm a pretty old guy , and probably will not live to see the downfall of this great country, but it really saddens me that any of our citizens could side against us. With attitudes like that , America will not survive. That's the kind of reasoning that got Obama elected, and even a blind fool can see what a mistake that was.

    • Randall

I don't know how old you are, but unless we Americans start getting our shit together as one soon, this whole country is going to fall. Our fore Fathers put shit in writing and in place to make certain that a lot of the shit that is happening, should have never happened in the first place. Our govt. is fucking the people and taking more and more rights away almost daily. Once these rich, self serving, over powered fuck wads take away everything that allows "The People" to take the country back, it will be too late, I fear that it might already be too late now. We're all just a bunch of sheep-le. "Pro American anti govt"

    • White Slave

Hey Randy. With the passage of PBOCare, you will live just long enough to see the downfall.

  • Tom Williams

Thanks for all the comments. I would take them more seriously if I thought most of you voted, were involved with charities or occasionally read a book or newspaper . In the U.S. we have the opportunity to affect our condition. I don't think that is a likely in many countries.

  • vishnu

I believe that Tom Williams' comment, as well as a few others earlier in the thread, hit on what is key to this discussion: if we were all in China, it would not be taking place.

    • David

You have missed the entire point. The issue is that our country has strayed from the founding fathers intent and are being called out on it. My earlier comment got eliminated by a censor. That alone is example enough of suppression of free speech.

      • vishnu

Well, David, I keep seeing your posts so I really don't get your comments about "censorship". Which intent of the Founders have we strayed from? As I said before, if we were all in China or some other totalitarian state, this discussion would not be taking place. Your comments might be acceptable, but the rest of us would be arrested by now.

        • Whit Slave

          Veil of freedom is thin.

  • David

Someone has edited my comment out of this blog seems there is censorship here as well

  • David

    What free internet?

    • White Slave

      Exactly

  • White Slave

And with electronic voting you believe it actually count?
    Fools….
You mention corruption, yet still believe the system works. LOLOL OMG people are blind.

  • William 1

and NOW thanks to Obama we have a Chinese braying —ass braying outta thier asses!

  • Archiloches

Though friends in old age,Hamilton and Adams pulled a fast one on Jefferson in subverting the constitution to be a framework for police state plutocracy, witness events leading up to our many states like the burned earth blitzkrieg of Vermont with forebears taking like Humung tribesmen to the mountains, and the 2nd amendment clearly a threatening bulwark against central overreaching and unpoliced crime should there come social disorder as in three more mutations of the H5N1 virus, 60% fatal vs the 1918 flu's 3%, ie. worse then the black plague that caused total civic havoc in the middle ages, with roving bands of fomerly civilized cannibals. And whose to prevent it–the incompetent FBI who couldn't rooot out a flaming alcoholic traiter like Ames, whose old boy network didn't heed the women in the west warning of terrtorist learning to fly but not land, or the similarly inept CIA, all of whom should have been sent to Guantanomo Bay, who practice close quarters wih guns so much more easily defended than more competence requiring knives. Check "The prescient, "The Road", or what I hope is the somewhat tongue in cheek "Molon Labé"–help to know a little Greek as did our founders to discuss democracy, or the forthcoming "Achilles, ACOA, PTSD, and me: the regretfully beautiful terror of combat". We do not find Vermont in the history books, but do find what Stalin did to the Ukraine, and then the Gulag Archipeligo, which at its height imprisoned fewer than we now do at such great expense in money transferred from the public to corporations, disrupted families, and lost human potential, often over drugs like pot–cf. 'Molon Labé. I am a servant of Mars + knowing the Muses desired dowery. Archiloches

WOOOOOOOHHHHH Everyone just take a minute to sit back and calm down. I understand some see our country as the devil. Those of you who do, it would behoove you to post some place where you are more welcome instead of trash talking the country a few of us are still fighting to protect. I fight for your freedoms but i still don't appreciate you using them to slander and tear down my country. As this is a website most people who frequent it are gun owners and mostly conservative republicans. To post a bunch of left wing crap on here is no better than me walking into a gay bar and yelling QUEER at the top of my lungs. For you to think that you are better than others maybe you should learn some common courtesy then try again. Last thing on this, why the hell did you bring up the slaughter of the Indians…..I would have thought slavery of the blacks would have been a much more memorable issue. Hell we had a war over it, well it was a premise of the Civil war thought not the only reason it started. Point is, really? really? Indians? Are you one of those people I've met that are 1/320th Cherokee and always talk about how you're part Indian? Good lord of all things to cry about.__

  • Heretic

They can't complain about slavery, that was the Democrats. Republicans opposed slavery. I myself am one quarter Blackfoot, but 100% American.

  • http://www.facebook.com/wgilmore Wayne Gilmore

Our Country is not the Devil, nor is what it was intended to be when it was created. We were warned to stay out of other countries affairs, and to not let the government dictate to the people. It is our right and our Responsibility to make sure Government knows its place, and that is behind the people, not in front like it is now. Now the question remains what are you going to do about it, of coarse you talk a good game, but your not going to rise up, you know it would mean prison or death. Your not stupid, most of you think run away to fight another day, but until several people actually do something and sacrifice, no ones gonna do shit but talk about how big and bad they are. No i'm not trying to incite violence, but am trying to get you to think of what your saying. If it actually came down to it, you would probably believe you have to much to lose to challenge the government. Voting is not the cure for our Corrupt politicians, treason trials would be, but who is going to mach over the river and place Congress under arrest for treason or the President for that matter?
