Toy Gun? Hands Up!

Michigan legislators are considering a bill that would make it a crime to alter a toy gun to make it look real or conversely, alter a real gun to make it look like a toy. http://www.macombdaily.com/articles/2011/12/27/news/politics/doc4efa80e3d04e6715602586.txt

Apparently, Detroit gang members are removing the orange tip from airsoft guns and using them to menace others in that city.

Those with long memories will recall that John Dillinger used a carved wooden gun to break out of jail in Crown Point, Ind., in 1933, so the use of fake guns in crime is hardly new.

Using an altered toy or real gun in a felony would be punishable by up to 18 months in prison.

    Here's a novel idea, get rid of all the coons and liberal politicians and crime will also disappear.

    So that when your 5 year old breaks the tip off his toy and keeps running around outside he/you can be a criminal for it. Great idea! Sounds crazy but you know someone would push that through somewhere (washtenaw county anyone?).

    Those orange tips are put on toy guns because kids were getting shot accidentaly by cops, armed security, etc. It's a safety issue, not gun control. Example: Police are in a suburban neighborhood on a nice spring day, searching for an armed and dangerous suspect. Families are outside, kids are playing, some playing "cops and robbers". A cop comes around a corner to find a gun pointed at him. BANG!!! Sorry kid, your in the wrong place at the wrong time. But with the orange flag, this is much less likely to happen. If you have kids that have the orange broke of there toy guns, please fix it or replace it. It's too cheap not to.

    STUPID & IGNORANT Idea.
    What makes sense is to make it a Feloney IF a toy gun like this is used in a CRIME !
    Law Abiding citizens who may be AFRAID of REAL Guns might feel safe using this option to ward off a possible attack OR someone who is paranoid about their children getting a hold of a real gun OR being able to carry this type of gun concealed for the purpose of protection in areas or locations where they might otherwise not be able to legally carry a real firearm.
    In other words, PENALIZE THE INTENT & USE OF A WEAPON for CRIMES… NOT because of its COLOR !!
