Bill Ruger, Sr., probably would have found the idea of a Ruger 1911 heretical, but current management concerns itself more with maximizing sales, and sales of the SR1911 have been through the roof. See Kokalis’ upcoming report in the 2/1 issue of SGN to lean more about this uncommonly successful pistol.

Don't think this will be like a Bren X or the original Colt Pony, Ruger doesn't make failures like that. It will be available. And I too am glad to see US! I'm also glad to see a longer trigger. The short trigger was so that a short fingered person COULD fire the pistol. The short trigger sure didn't help normal to long fingered gunners. I hope that Ruger might have an arched mainspring available as factory. I've got to wonder if most shooters REALLY want the flat mainspring housing?

I work at a gun store, and bought the first one that came in. I had a colt fail on me when I needed it the most in Nam. Hated 1911s. I fired 5 rounds and was in love with this gun. I will put this up against a Kimber any day of the week. For the money it may be the best 1911 out there. Thanks RUGER.

I loved mine but had to sell to pay bills, I regret it and should have sold my Glock. It was an accurate, reliable handgun. I paid $750 and sold it for $720 knowing later I can get on for much less once they begin to hit the shelves. I picked mine up on Armslist.com

They are hard to come by. Demand is far greater than supply ever will be. That will continue unless the demand decreases. One way to do that is to increase the price which is happening. Another possibiliy is for competition to enter the market with a product this value packed at a similar or lwoer price. I suspect Ruger has this priced low to capture market share. Once they own the market share they own the cash flow too. A move to reduce competition….then prices will increase substantially IMHO.
I paid $629 (Impact Guns) for my SR1911 but waited 6 months to get it. Prices are slowly creeping up over $700 now. Great gun though…..may have a trigger job done at some point.

Everyone that is waiting for the SR1911, wait a bit longer. It's worth it. I traded a loaded Springfield for mine and glad I did. Accuracy improved instantly and reliabilty is not an issue. Good price for now, nice looking handgun
