Most Beautiful Pistol Ever?

It’s always good to look on the positive side, though looking on the negative side is usually more fun. So having examined the ugliest pistols in history, we turn to the good-lookers.

1. Smith & Wesson Triple Lock: the third lock was found unnecessary, but it’s a great-looking revolver, regardless.

2. Swiss 1906 Luger: all Lugers look great, but the 7.65mm Swiss version has it all.

3. Browning Vest Pocket: the Baby Browning was the best-looking of all the .25 autoloaders, and is still available made by PSA (www.precisionsmallarms.com).

4. Colt Banker’s Special: a cylinder intended for the .38 S&W class of cartridges is just better proportioned to a short barrel than one that accommodates .38 Spl.

5. Colt Officer’s Model Match: this is a classic from the great days of revolver target shooting when you just used one very strong arm.

6. Remington Model 51: this great-looking pocket auto was accurate and reliable, but its locked breech operating system made it more expensive than blowback competitors.

7. Browning Model 1922: this beautifully proportioned .32 was a popular police pistol in Europe and later marketed here in slightly modified form as the Model 1955 and Model 1971.

8. Mauser HSc: this rakishly streamlined .32 was the best-looking of the Third Reich’s pocket pistols.

9. Whitney Wolverine: this one offers the best in Space Age 1950s design, and Olympic Arms offers a modern reproduction with a plastic frame.

10. Walther P88; my personal favorite of the original Wondernines: It was slim and lively in the hand, unlike so many large-capacity 9mms.

  • Geoff

The Colt Woodsman target model is better looking than a few of these.

  • Rusty Shackleford

    Ruger MKI

  • Ray Harden

    Hawk

What about the H&K P7 for a great pistol, It's one of my favorites.

    • PCK

HK P7 Series Pistols very nice built very good accuracy. BUT Unfortunately its like a throwaway mainly because if you are a rapid shooter discharging more then 25 rounds get weapon so very extremely HOT that it can no longer be handled by a human hand. Fo that reason I consider it an obsolete toy that was the main reason I got rid of mine as well.

  • Bill Addison

How about the Colt Single Action Army w/ 7.5 inch barrel? Sleek, smooth and perfectly balanced.

  • Terry

Brownings 1911. Hands down best pistol ever made!

    • PCK

Almsot very true but its take down methods are beyond obsolete.

  • ian

It's really hard to choose between the no-bullshit lines of the luger and the aesthetically pleasing lines of the mauser. I may be thinking so because the lean and trim lines of the luger remind me of me while the smooth and curvy lines of the mauser remind me of the coke-bottle-shaped body of my wife. I am fortunate enough to own both pistols and I love them equally.

  • Bill

Colt Python, stainless with a 4" barrel. Beautiful and functional.

  • Dave

Python, blue, 6" barrel. Nothing beats it's looks, and i'm a S&W fan.

  • 44reese43

p38 is where it is..with all the wonderful variations.. only thing that could have made it better would have been a larger capacity magazine..

  • exexpat11

Walther P88 is mine on this list. My CZ PCR 9mm is my favorite that I own.

  • PCK

Dollar for Dollar, penny for Penny there is no finer weapon then a GLOCK 26 can safely unleash an unlimited amount of rounds in seconds with non overheating problems at all, yet can safely handle +P, +P+ and so on.
Its beyond an amazing and most remarkable Pistol, that I will put it up against an HK, SPhinx, Korth, and more.
No one will ever regret getting a GLOCK 26, by far the finest pistol dollar for dollar.

    • TRC

Yeah yeah all true but it is UGLY.

  • TODD R CASPELL

HA you all must be joking. Or blind. Or totally lacking in artistic sensibilities.

The Colt 1862 Pocket Police is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PISTOL EVER MADE.

Best looking: Browning Hi-Power (auto) or 4" Ruger Security Six (revolver)

  • Gunny

Browning's M1911 still beats them all – though Colt's 6" Blued Python runs a close second. O r maybe they simply tie at the top of their respective semi-auto/revolver categories. And cut the crap about the 1911's take-down qualities. 1st of all, it's an asthetic contest. 2ndly, I can disassemble & reassemble one blindfolded in less then 40 seconds – so man-up and quit wining about it being obsolete. Maybe you're the one who's obsolete.

  • Justin

All of these guns are Ugly.

  • Gunnut Ed

What's with all the mouse guns? who forgot al the behemoths, the big, slickgunslike the Wildeys, 44automag, Colt Anaconda, Taurus Raging Bulls. All that shiny steel, and raw power!

  • sab

Scofield 45 LC Is a great looking gun. But the whle list begins and ends with a Browning 1911.

  • Ronnie

The schofield is, without a doubt, the coolest looking revolver. As for semi-auto, I like a 1911 in commander length with GI beavertail and hammer.

  • Charlie

Colt Python hands down the most beautiful handgun ever made

  • cCharles Pyatt

add SW model 59, really pretty and really well balanced

  • Wayne

Colt 1911 45 gold cup, best firearm ever made.

  • Phil

The J frame smith, everybodys go to gun. Cops, fishermen, women, old men, all of us. After we try all the new ones we wander back.

  • Bill

Colt 1860 Army is the best looking, overall. 7.5" bbl. SAA and Smith 6" K-38 among cartridge revolvers, Luger and Cz-75 among pistols.
